Mia Melon makes outerwear for the weather between places: rain on the walk to dinner, cold mornings in the city, and those uncertain days when the sky has not quite made up its mind.
We believe a coat can keep you dry, keep you warm, and still feel like something you chose to wear.
Born in the rain
Mia Melon began in Vancouver, Canada, in 2006. The Pacific Northwest has a way of teaching you about rain, and from the beginning our idea was simple: make outerwear that belongs in wet weather without looking as though it belongs only there.
Over the years the collection has changed. Mia Melon once made a much broader range; in 2018 the line turned its attention more fully to jackets and layers. Some of those earlier coats are still out in the world, still being worn. We like that.
A new chapter
In 2024 Mia Melon changed hands through an acquisition of the brand and its intellectual property. After a short pause, we brought it back with the part that mattered most intact: thoughtfully made outerwear for women, designed for weather and for everyday life.
Today Mia Melon is an independent U.S. brand. Design work moves between New York and Los Angeles, while our day-to-day customer care is based in South Carolina. If you have a question about fit, a fabric, or an order, write us at help@miamelon.com. There is a person on the other side.
Made for weather
Every waterproof Mia Melon jacket has taped seams. Most styles use a waterproof membrane in the 5K/10K class, with the exact rating noted on each product page. Cotton and wool shells pair a waterproof membrane with a DWR finish; some polyester shells are waterproof on their own and are still fully seam taped.
The details change from coat to coat—warmth, lining, hood, shape—but the intention does not. Protection from the weather should be part of the design, not the whole story.
For fit, begin with chest, waist, and hips on our Sizing Guide, then look for the fit note on each style: Fitted, Standard, Relaxed, or Oversized. And when your jacket has seen a few seasons of rain, our Care and feeding guide will help you keep it that way.
What comes next
Outerwear remains at the heart of Mia Melon. We keep working on the things that make a coat worth reaching for: beautiful fabrics, considered shapes, reliable weather protection, and the small details you notice after you have lived in it for a while.
Our jackets are made with partner factories able to meet the construction standards our waterproof styles require, including taped seams, careful finishing, and consistent production. We would rather make pieces that earn a place by the door than chase every passing season.
Glad you found us
