Where we started
We were founded in Vancouver, Canada, in 2006, in the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest. From the beginning the idea was simple: outerwear that works in wet weather and still looks polished on a city street.
For years Mia Melon sold a full range, jackets, layers, and more. In 2018 the line narrowed to jackets and layers and became a cold-weather brand. Many customers still own several pieces from that era. The jackets last a long time, often around eight years of real wear, which is exactly the kind of product we want to keep building.
Where we are now
We acquired Mia Melon in 2024. There was a short pause to reset how the brand ran, then we came back later that year with the same outerwear DNA people already loved, and a brighter way of operating: clear prices, honest sizing, less noise around discounts, and customer service you can reach.

How we build jackets
Every waterproof Mia Melon jacket has taped seams. Most styles use a waterproof membrane in the 5K/10K class (exact rating is on each product page). Cotton and wool shells get the membrane-plus-DWR treatment; some polyester shells are waterproof on their own and still get full seam taping. Warmth, hoods, linings, and fit change by style. The through-line is the same: stay dry without looking like gear.
We size for real bodies. Start with chest, waist, and hips on our Sizing Guide, then read the fit note on each product (Fitted, Standard, Relaxed, or Oversized). Care notes for DWR and waterproof shells live on Care and feeding.
Where we are headed
Outerwear stays the center of Mia Melon: waterproof jackets with taped seams, clear prices, and real help when you need it. We keep refining fit, fabric, and the styles you actually wear in wet weather, not chasing a one-sale-cycle coat.
Prices stay clear and steady most of the year. A few small seasonal moments help people discover the line. Black Friday is our wider moment, more styles in play, not a race to the bottom on discount depth. We would rather earn the order with the jacket.
Our jackets are made with partner factories that can meet the construction standards we require: taped seams on waterproof styles, careful finishing, and consistent runs. What does not change is the bar on the product and the people who answer when you write.
