Quilted Jackets: A Little Warmth for the Weather Between
Mia Melon on Sep 9th 2026
A cool morning with the window open. A room that never seems quite warm enough. An afternoon that has changed its mind by the time you leave.
These are the small in-between moments a quilted jacket can make more comfortable. A little warmth, something soft next to you, and enough personality to feel like part of the outfit.
Meet the layer you can leave on
Ayla begins with cotton on the inside: a 100% organic cotton lining and 100% natural cotton filling. Her 100% recycled polyester shell carries the Hundred Flowers print in Sky or Sand.
That combination gives her a light, easy feel. Wear her over a tee for a cool start, keep her on at your desk, or bring her along when you are not sure how late you will stay out.
One jacket, three ways through the day
- On her own: put Ayla over a comfortable top with denim or everyday trousers. Her shorter cut leaves the rest of the outfit visible.
- Inside: treat her as the soft layer you would otherwise reach for in a cardigan. Choose a base that feels comfortable through the sleeves.
- Beneath a coat: add her when you want more warmth, provided the outer coat still closes and moves easily over the quilting.
Try the complete combination before heading out. If the sleeves bunch or the outer coat pulls across your back, a thinner middle layer or a different coat may feel better.
Let the flowers be part of your wardrobe
A printed jacket need not wait for a carefully planned outfit. Start with the colors already in your wardrobe. Sky can sit softly beside denim and gray; Sand works easily with cream, brown, and warmer neutrals. Use those as starting points, then follow your own eye.
Ayla can soften tailored trousers or bring interest to a simple tee. You can enjoy the print and the comfort in equal measure.
What about a change in the weather?
Ayla's current construction includes a waterproof recycled-polyester shell and heat-sealed taped internal seams. Those are useful weather details alongside her light cotton warmth. Warmth and rain protection are separate questions, however: choose the insulation you need for the day as well as the coverage you want.
For colder days, Esme offers down warmth in a different silhouette. For choosing an outer rain layer, browse our midweight jackets.
Comfort is the deciding detail
Use Ayla's body and finished-jacket measurements to find your starting size. Then think about how you want to wear her most. If you need a little help with the layers, tell us what you have in mind. The right combination should feel easy enough to become a habit.
